The presence of the front facade and the public square are the two design drivers. Where the top ”L” - library itself, intersects the bottom “L” - community spaces, two circulation cores are created anchoring the building to the site.
The circular flow on the 2nd floor, from the library out to the roof terrace and back to the library, is a metaphor to the spinning of a vinyl record.
Record-playing stations shift the experience from browsing to listening, creating an intimate moment right in the library.
Wooden fins on the west and north facades filter solar gain while subtly revealing a sound wave embedded within their profile as the building is approached.
